Cinemark Announces National "Speed of Service" Challenge Winners
Plano, TX...The 2007 "Speed of Service" (SOS) Challenge Finals, held this past weekend at the Cinemark Carefree Circle theatre in Colorado Springs, CO, displayed the amazing and award-winning skills of Cinemark’s best concessionists. All nine participants representing the sixteen Cinemark and Century Theatre regions each won a minimum of $1,000 over the weekend.
Regional participants included Ashley Moore of Movies 16 in Gahanna, OH; Gracie Robinson of Movies 14 in Pueblo, CO; Josh Harris of Movies 8 in Sand Springs, OK; Kate Parnell of Tinseltown 20 in Jacksonville, FL; Charlie Erdall of Tinseltown USA in Kenosha, WI; Liz Speckman of Movies 9 in Sandy, UT; Jenny Chema of Movies 10 in Mansfield, OH; Chris Lagerlef of Cinemark Legacy in Plano, TX; and Maricela Ortiz of Cinemark West in El Paso, TX.
Thanks in part to big movies like Harry Potter and Transformers, the team managed a non-stop three-hour influx of customers and sold over of $9,000 worth of concessions in 3 hours, shattering the previous SOS Finals record sales amount of $8,500 set in 2006. Each person was awarded $1,000 for this huge accomplishment.
In addition, Ashley Moore earned an additional $250 prize for having the highest sales of the group with a total of $1,367.50 sold. Chris Lagerlef earned an additional $250 for selling the most drinks (149), in the three-hour period. The big winner of the evening was Kate Parnell, who had the best Dollars per Second Average of $0.2107. She received an additional $500 prize.
The annual "Speed of Service" challenge rewards outstanding concessionists from all Cinemark and Century theatres across the country, for speed and efficiency at the concession stand. Nine regional winners were qualified from 16 different regions in the United States.
"We couldn’t be more proud of our 2007 Finalists," commented Bob Shimmin, Vice-President, Food and Beverage for Cinemark USA, Inc. "Considering the competition was only 3 hours, this is quite an accomplishment and a testament to what can be achieved. These results are the culmination of the extensive training and hard work that was put into this program."
