Sing-A-Long to ‘Mamma Mia! The Movie’ at Cinemark Theatres
August 15th, 2008 Plano, Texas – Cinemark Holdings, Inc. (the “Company”), announces the upcoming theatrical release of the sing-a-long version of ‘Mamma Mia! The Movie’. On August 29th a select number of Cinemark and Century theatres will be showing the film, complete with on-screen lyrics and bouncing ball so audiences can follow along and sing their favorite songs. ‘Mamma Mia! The Movie’ features an independent, single mother who owns a small hotel on an idyllic Greek island, Donna (Streep) is about to let go of Sophie (Amanda Seyfried), the spirited daughter she's raised alone. For Sophie's wedding, Donna has invited her two lifelong best girlfriends--practical and no-nonsense Rosie (Julie Walters) and wealthy, multi-divorcee Tanya (Christine Baranski)--from her one-time backing band, Donna and the Dynamos. But Sophie has secretly invited three guests of her own. On a quest to find the identity of her father to walk her down the aisle, she brings back three men from Donna's past to the Mediterranean paradise they visited 20 years earlier. Over 24 chaotic, magical hours, new love will bloom and old romances will be rekindled on this lush island full of possibilities. The movie cast is headed by Meryll Streep and Pierce Brosnan. This film adaptation of the musical is based on the songs of 70’s supergroup, ABBA. To date, it is the 5th highest grossing movie musical. Universal Pictures will be releasing the sing-a-long version of the movie in over 300 locations, nationwide.
