Cinemark Mall Dell Norte Theatre in Laredo, TX Opened on June 25th

Laredo, TX opened a new Cinemark Theatre on Wednesday, June 27th at the Mall del Norte. Manager William Burnham and his staff were ready for a week full of great movies, exciting events and a holiday on the Texas border.

The activities started with a Friends and Family night on Monday, June 25th. Over 1,500 people came out to preview the theatre, enjoy free popcorn, soft drinks and movies, and meet Front Row Joe! The next day, June 26th the theatre welcomed the Mayor of Laredo, Raul Salinas, local press and the Chamber of Commerce for a film-cutting ceremony and luncheon. Over 70 folks enjoyed the catered event and 15 media covered the ceremony. That night over 2,000 people attended the VIP Night hosted by local radio, TV, newspapers, and the mall.

The theatre opened on the 27th with four screens of LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD on its opening day. Three radio station remotes were held by the local BMP Stations. Front Row Joe met mall-goers and took pictures with the kids while handing out coloring sheets, Cinemark bracelets and magnets. Customer promotions included a free t-shirt at the concession stand when a large drink was purchased, free Sony SUPERBAD t-shirts to the first 100 people from June 27-July 4, free Transformers video game certificates to the first 50 people who see the new movie on July 2nd and 3rd, and a trip giveaway to Los Angeles to see the I NOW PRONOUNCE YOU CHUCK AND LARRY premiere.

For this summer’s Grand Opening’s of new theatres in Houston, Olympia, Laredo, Bloomingdale and Federal Way, Cinemark is teaming up with Universal to giveaway 5 trips to Los Angeles for the premiere of I NOW PRONOUNCE YOU CHUCK AND LARRY, the new Adam Sandler comedy co-staring Kevin James. Each trip consists of round-trip airfare, three days/two nights hotel accommodations with meal vouchers, and tickets to the premiere on Thursday, July 12th.

A registration table was set up at the new theatre lobbies for opening week which included trip giveaway registration boxes, signage, and the CHUCK AND LARRY standee and poster.

Winners will be selected by July 5th at each theatre. The trips will be July 11th through 13th. Special thanks to Scott Reickhoff and John Hall from Universal Exhibitor Services who helped arrange for the trips and also worked to provide a direct mail piece for all of these grand openings.
