Knives Out: Exclusive Interviews With Chris Evans, Daniel Craig, and Jamie Lee Curtis

(Updated 11/21/2019)

With KNIVES OUT, writer/director Rian Johnson creates an ode to classic Agatha Christie whodunnits, even as he revamps the formula that made Christie's novels, and the many movies based on them, classic and memorable. The comedic mystery follows the tense events that take place when an eccentric detective, played by Daniel Craig, investigates the death of a famous mystery writer, whose life came to an end on the eve of a birthday celebration thrown by his argumentative, bickering family.

On the red carpet at the KNIVES OUT premiere, star Daniel Craig told us "it's like an old-fashioned whodunnit, but it's got more going for it than that. We've got an incredibly talented cast, and each one of them knocks it out of the park."

That cast also includes Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael Shannon, Don Johnson, Toni Collette, Lakeith Stanfield, Katherine Langford, Jaeden Martell, and Christopher Plummer. And it seems like all the performers liked watching each other at work. "A lot of movies, in between takes, people run back to their trailers," Chris Evans told us. "But on this job, everyone stayed on set and really connected."

The enthusiasm of director Rian Johnson certainly helped. "I'm a whodunnit junkie," he told us. "I watch everything that comes out, and I love it all. The idea of being able to work all that stuff [into KNIVES OUT], seemed like it would be a blast."
