We Talk to Ilana Glazer, Michelle Buteau and Pamela Adlon of Babes

5/17/2024 • 1 min read

BABES almost sounds like it could be a routine comedy. It follows a perpetually-immature woman dealing with an unexpected pregnancy. Her chief confidante is her childhood best friend, now a mom of two, whose life is on the verge of being too full to accommodate her old bestie.

But BABES unites two women whose trend-setting comedy has previously existed on parallel paths. Star and co-writer Ilana Glazer was half of the duo that created and starred in "Broad City," the mid-2010s Comedy Central series based on two 20-something friends trying to find success in New York City.

Meanwhile, director Pamela Adlon, whose resume is dominated by her work voicing Bobby Hill on "King of the Hill," created and starred in "Better Things," the amazing comedy/drama series about a divorced woman raising three kids in Los Angeles. Together, they make a dream team capable of resetting the benchmark for an R-rated big-screen comedy.

We got to speak with Glazer, her co-star Michelle Buteau, and director Adlon, to learn about the creation of their no-holds barred comedy.
