Disney's New Movies

Disney HistoryDisney Studio Page | About, Movies, and What's to Come

Disney—or, the The Walt Disney Company—is a multi-national mass media entertainment conglomerate. And it started with a man named Walt. Walt Disney and his brother Roy O. founded The Disney Brothers Studios in 1923, in Burbank, California. And a lot has happened over the last 100 years.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs—the company’s first feature-length film—came out in 1937. Well before that, in 1930, the world got its first glimpse of the loveable rodent we now recognize as Mickey Mouse—then, a chummy boat pilot called Steamboat Willie.

Disney would continue addng to its stable of iconic characters throughout the “Golden Age of Animation” with silver screen gems like Pinocchio (1940), Bambi (1942), Cinderella (1950), The Little Mermaid (1989), Beauty and the Beast (1991), and The Lion King (1994).

More About Disney

But Disney is so much more than its suite of animated darlings. Theere are probably some movies you didn’t even realize were Disney vehicles. Think of Mary Poppins, Jack Sparrow, and Zorro. Think of the Jamaican Olympic bobsled team in Cool Runnings (1993) or The Parent Trap (1961 and 1998). In fact, Disney owns the rights to many entities. Titans like Marvel and Lucasfilm. Familiars like Pixar. In 2019, Disney bought most of 21st Century Fox’s assets—for $71 billion.

Look to your left. Now, your right. You probably saw something Disney. And if you didn’t, you certaintly will before long—especially if you’ve got a Disney+ subscription. Disney, after all, is anything but a small world.

Disney Studio News

There's a Disney movie for every audience. With Pixar, Marvel Studios, and the films coming out of Disney's live-action and animated divisions, Walt Disney's enduring studio has the world of entertainment covered.

"When you wish upon a star, your dreams come true." The lyrics from PINOCCHIO have become representative of Disney's fantasy storytelling. Now, a new animated movie will answer any question you may have ever had about that star.

For the past few years, Disney has been prepping a prequel that will explore the story of Mufasa, and the studio has an award-winning director on board to follow THE LION KING remake director Jon Favreau.

For every Princess there is a Prince or at least an attentive guy with a dubious backstory whose association with the young woman in question presents an opportunity to establish his character and worth.

The Disney Princesses are more like queens of the movie world (don't tell Maleficent) but it wasn't always that way. Even though the very first feature from Walt Disney Animation, SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DRAWFS, introduced the first Disney Princess, she did not have company for a long time.

Disney's live-action slate adapted from classic animated movies continues with SNOW WHITE, coming in 2025.
