You never need a reason to revisit your favorite movies, but sometimes a little push can help make the choice between catching a new release and checking out a screening of a well-loved classic. We program many movie anniversaries every month. You just need to know what to look out for.
We can't list every movie that is celebrating an important anniversary in 2023, but here's a list of some of the most significant titles. Some recent hits turn 10, a group of absolute classics make it to 50, and a few of the most iconic movies of all time pass the 75-year milestone.
Read on for some of the biggest 2023 movie anniversaries.
It does not seem like a decade since THE WOLF OF WALL STREET or FROZEN came out, but those are two of the movies turning 10 in 2023. For MAN OF STEEL fans, at least the year might have announcements of a new Henry Cavill Superman movie!

Steven Spielberg's amazing twin releases from 1993 are 30 in 2023, and they're every bit as powerful now as they were back then. Also celebrating the big 3-0 is the only theatrically-released animated Batman movie, and Harrison Ford's still stunning action-thriller, THE FUGITIVE.

One of the great things about MY NEIGHBOR TOTORO is that it never seems to age. But Hayao Miyazaki's movie turns 35 this year, along with DIE HARD, HEATHERS, and many others.

The last movie in the Original Trilogy is officially over the hill this year, as is the movie that helped make Tom Cruise a star and the gangster picture that inspired a legion of MCs. (And let's honor CHRISTINE, too, especially after its oversized influence on HALLOWEEN ENDS.)

Some heavy hitters are half a century old this year. THE EXORCIST, which literally changed the landscape for horror movies, and the films that were early hits for Martin Scorsese (MEAN STREETS) and George Lucas (AMERICAN GRAFITTI). Oh, and if you've never seen Peter Bogdanovich's PAPER MOON, give yourself a treat with a screening of the now-50-year-old movie.

We're deep into Hollywood classic territory with this batch. Most of these movies need no introduction, as they have moved fully into "iconic" territory in their 75 years. BICYCLE THIEVES is the opposite of a Hollywood movie, but it helped set in motion several movie trends that were big in the '60s, the '90s, and even now.
