CHAMPIONS is a heartwarming sports story led by a character who is desperately in need of grace. That would be Woody Harrelson's character Marcus, a minor-league basketball coach who seems to think he can get away with anything. A court-ordered stint doing community service leads him to coach a team of basketball players with intellectual disabilities.
Soon, of course, Marcus is won over by the heart and dedication of the team, which has more potential than he was able to see at first. CHAMPIONS has a supporting cast that includes Kaitlin Olson, Ernie Hudson, and Cheech Marin, and it comes from DUMB AND DUMBER and THERE'S SOMETHING ABOUT MARY co-director Bobby Farrelly.
We talked to Harrelson, Olson, Marin, and Farrelly about the experience of making the movie with a largely untrained young cast who gave everything to the movie.
